Cold, heat and humidity
- Cold: KwikWeld, ClearWeld, PlasticWeld syringe, PlasticBonder, MinuteWeld and InstantWeld say that below 40°F the set time is longer. J-B Weld gives no figure for how much longer, and doesn’t print that line on Original or the putty sticks.
- Heat: J-B Weld says the HighHeat syringe’s cure is sped up by heat, 1 hour at 250°F, and that a soft ExtremeHeat repair can be sped up with a non-flame heat source such as a hair dryer.
- Generally: J-B Weld’s FAQ says set and cure times can be affected by temperature and humidity.
J-B Weld’s own test for ExtremeHeat: press a fingernail into the repair. If it won’t go in, the repair is complete; if it’s slightly soft, give it more time.
