Tempaper says yes: its peel and stick paper can go in bathrooms with steam and indirect moisture, and it calls the vinyl water-resistant, not waterproof. No maker we read says yes to use inside a shower, and Smart Tiles, Art3d and Style Selections rule it out. Brewster says any damp problem must be fixed before NuWallpaper goes up.
What each maker says
| Product | Bathroom | Shower or standing water | What the maker adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tempaper peel and stick wallpaper | Yes, with steam and indirect moisture | Water-resistant, not waterproof | Its vinyl is non-breathable, so moisture can’t work under it |
| NuWallpaper (Brewster) | Not named; damp issues must be corrected first | Excessive liquid may damage it | Wipe clean with a slightly damp cloth |
| Smart Tiles (wall tiles) | Suitable for bathrooms | Not in the shower or bathtub; splashes only | Dry the wall completely before tiling above a shower |
| Art3d vinyl peel and stick tiles | Not stated | Not in a shower enclosure | It says shower use will affect the adhesive |
| Quadrostyle tile stickers | Steam and splash resistant | Not on shower floors or damp, moldy surfaces | Caulk the raw edges around a bath or shower |
| Style Selections Peel & Stick Vinyl Flooring | Seal the edge with 100% silicone caulk where there’s a bath or shower | Not inside showers or saunas | Lowe’s store brand, made by Novalis |
From each product’s FAQ, blog, instructions or installation guide. Tempaper’s bathroom blog says its prints can withstand moisture, heat and steam; its FAQ says to avoid prolonged heat.
Getting it to last in a damp room
- Fix damp first. Brewster says damp issues must be corrected before NuWallpaper goes up, and Quadrostyle says not to install on damp or moldy surfaces.
- Seal edges near water. Quadrostyle suggests a line of caulk along raw edges around a bath or shower recess, and Style Selections asks for 100% silicone caulk around its floor in a room with a bath or shower.
- Clean gently. NuWallpaper takes a slightly damp cloth. Quadrostyle says a steam cleaner uses far too much heat and will weaken its adhesive.
- Overlap seams a little. Tempaper suggests a slight overlap where temperatures swing, so seams don’t split. NuWallpaper’s instructions call for about 1/32 inch, so a gap doesn’t open if the paper shrinks back.
None of these makers gives a humidity limit for a finished bathroom; Style Selections asks for 35% to 65% relative humidity while its floor goes down. We’d keep any peel-and-stick out of the spray zone and run the fan after a shower.
