Find out which plastic it is first. For hard plastics, makers list epoxies, super glues and hybrid glues with wood; for polypropylene and polyethylene, the one glue we found that lists them is Loctite’s Plastics Bonding System.

Two-part epoxy or super glue
18 products have both surfaces on their makers’ lists.
Gorilla Epoxy (two-part epoxy). Apply within 5 minutes of mixing, then clamp 30 minutes. Fills gaps; water resistant, not for constant water.
Gorilla Super Glue Gel (super glue). Sets in 10 to 45 seconds. Gorilla rates it for indoor use and not for filling gaps.
Loctite Vinyl, Fabric & Plastic Flexible Adhesive (flexible solvent glue). Cures in 24 hours. Not for heat over 140°F.
Loctite Extreme Glue (hybrid polymer glue). Clamp 30 minutes, full cure in about 24 hours. Water resistant, not for underwater use.
Original Gorilla Glue (polyurethane glue). Clamp 1 to 2 hours; best after 24 hours. Waterproof (ANSI/HPVA Type I), and it expands as it cures.

Outdoor use as each maker states it. “Not stated” means the maker’s page and data sheet don’t say.
None of the wood glues we read, from Titebond or Gorilla, lists plastic, so they’re not on the list. Check the recycling number if you don’t know the plastic.
Recycling numberin the triangle of arrows
The recycling number molded into the plastic tells you which one it is.
Polypropylene or polyethylene to wood
Loctite’s Super Glue Plastics Bonding System is the glue we found that lists both of these plastics, with its activator, and it lists wood too. It isn’t for outdoor use.
PVC boards on wood
For PVC trim or boards going onto wood, Loctite’s PVC guide suggests a strong construction adhesive, then fastening or clamping the board while it dries. More in PVC.
Not by the labels we read: Titebond's and Gorilla's wood glues list wood, and none of them lists plastic.
What's the best outdoor glue for plastic to wood?
Choose one rated for outdoor use that lists both, such as Gorilla Epoxy, Loctite Extreme Glue or E6000 Plus. The super glue gels in the table are indoor only.
The glues that list both surfaces come from each maker’s own surface list, and the PVC board advice from Loctite’s PVC guide. Checked against published data from Gorilla Glue Company, Henkel, J-B Weld, Franklin International and Eclectic Products (plus 1 more).
