No. Command says its products are not recommended for brick, and its surface chart puts brick in the no row. On brick, we’d use a brick clip or a tape whose maker lists brick instead.
What Command says about brick
- FAQ: asked about wallpaper, brick or concrete, Command answers that its products are “not recommended for wallpaper, brick, or rough concrete,” and to use only products that list your surface on the package.
- Outdoor hooks: the Outdoor Stainless Steel Wire Hooks sheet says “Not recommended on rough surfaces, such as cement board, brick or rough-sawn wood.”
- Bath products: the Bathroom Solutions how-to lists brick among the surfaces not to use.
- Surface chart: brick has a no sign. The yes row has “Painted Cinder Block or Concrete”; painted brick isn’t on the chart.
Since Command doesn’t list painted brick, we’d treat a painted brick wall as brick.

From each product’s own page, instructions or data sheet; each limit is the maker’s own figure. VELCRO Brand says its PRO Series Rough Surface Strips adhere to rough and textured surfaces such as brick, concrete and masonry.
Scotch-Mount Multipurpose Gel Tape is a 3M product too, and the one Scotch tape we found that names brick. Brick clip sizes and steps are on hanging on brick without drilling.
For anything heavy on brick, or that could hurt someone if it fell, we’d drill for a masonry anchor: see choosing a masonry anchor on our drill bit site.
